It is hard to believe my little boy is growing up. Every time I look at him he seems bigger and older. Now that he is six, he really seems grown up for some reason. Six is no longer a toddler or a little boy. It is the beginning of the "kid" years. It makes me sad and happy all at once.Cole had some very specific requests for this birthday. First of all, he wanted to go out to eat at a place where they brought him his own dessert. So, we went out to lunch and made sure that they brought him some ice cream and sang to him.
Then, he wanted to make pizzas for dinner. Everyone was pretty excited about that, especially cousin Tabitha who flew in just in time to help out!
Cole was also lucky enough to have lots of family (and almost family) to help him celebrate.Grandpa was very good at entertaining the crowd while we waited for everyone to get there.
All of his cousins, and might as well be cousins, were eager to help him open his presents and see what he got.
"Cousin" Brock even helped him break in his new mitt and baseballs.
I was grateful when Cole told me what he wanted on his cake. It was the easiest cake I've done in a while! If only I could figure out how to properly mix my colors! Oh well, vintage BYU colors were acceptable.
All of that family destroyed the cake and ice cream in a hurry! What a fun night!
Cole's other major request was that he wanted a BYU birthday party. I didn't really worry much about it for the first few weeks when he told me that figuring he would change his mind. About a week before his birthday, I finally decided he wasn't going to change his mind and I'd better figure out what he meant by this. He told me that for his party, he wanted to go to the BYU baseball stadium, football stadium, basketball arena, etc. I informed him that even with his Dad's connections, that might be a little much to ask for. So after coming up with various party ideas that incorporated BYU, Cole finally decided that we could just play BYU games at home. Once again, he made my life easy! We invited his friends over and we played B-Y-U Cougar instead of Duck, Duck, Goose,
Cosmo freeze tag,
And we played pin the "Y" on Cole.
Then they got to decorate their own cupcakes using BYU colored frosting and Cosmo sprinkles. (Yes, we are so over the top that we even have Cosmo sprinkles that we got as a present at Christmas time!)
Finally, they went on a treasure hunt to collect their take home goodies. We had a Yellow group that ended up being all of the girls,
And a blue group that included all of the boys.

The treasures included candy, BYU pom poms, BYU posters, and courtesy of Chad's connections, tickets to a BYU baseball game.
It was lots of fun to celebrate with friends and family. Happy Birthday Cole! I love you very much!

You are a VERY creative Mom to think of all those party ideas. I can't believe that little boy is 6. Am I getting old?
