It was a good birthday. I guess. I don't really have anything to compare it too. Although, I did have to wait soooooo long for my Dad to get home from work (I'm not sure I'm going to like having an August birthday. My Dad works a lot in August. Who's idea was it to have me in August anyway?!!?) and I had an ear infection in both ears and it was Cole's first day of Kindergarten so not all of the attention could be on me all day long. But, other than that, it was a fun day.The day started with my Mom, Cole, and Emily singing me Happy Birthday when I woke up. I thought it was so funny I smiled and giggled, which of course made Emily and Cole want to sing it again. We played this game for several minutes before my Mom moved us along to something new. And every time throughout the day that Emily or Cole started singing to me, I laughed. What a great game that is!
When my Dad got home after work, I got to open my presents. It was pretty funny. Emily and Cole thought they were going to get to "help" me open them (or open them for me!), but I figured it out all by myself! Emily was not happy!
Did you know that if you keep pulling at the paper, a fun toy pops out?
Then, after I opened my presents (and Cole and Emily "showed" me how to play with them, funny, now that I think about it, I'm not sure I ever got the turn to play with them that they promised me!), anyway, then I got to have a cupcake. The real cake had to wait until family came on Sunday. When Emily put it on my tray, I wasn't quite sure what to think. It didn't look like anything I had ever had before.
Then when I touched it, it felt kind of funny.
Once I got a taste of the cupcake, I realized that they had been holding out on me! This thing was YUMMY!! The chocolate icing was great! (Ignore the funky eyes, that was a product of my ear infection. I wasn't really drugged up at this point.)
After I was done with my cupcake, my Dad had to go play softball or something like that. So, my Mom was left home all alone with us kids. Sometimes when that happens, we gang up on her. She thought she had it under control that night. She let me play with my new toys while she was putting Cole and Emily to bed. But, I didn't want to play with my toys, I wanted to play with something else. After all, she can't get mad at me on my birthday, can she? (She says I'm too young to be doing this already, but apparently I figured it out!)
Then, on Sunday, I got to celebrate my birthday more. What a great Mom I have!Lots of family came to celebrate with me and they brought more presents!
This time, not only did Cole and Emily try to help me unwrap my presents, but Grandpa did too. Doesn't he know that I can do it by myself?!?!? In fact, bags are even easier than paper. You just pull out the paper on top and then fun stuff is inside!
I got lots of cute clothes and a book that talks to me. One day, maybe Emily will give me my book back so I can read it again!
This time my Mom made me a real cake. She said it would have been fancier, but she spent the whole weekend taking care of Emily and I and our infected ears so she was tired and grumpy. Oh well, she promised me a fancy one next year.
I don't know why everyone tries to help me do everything. Once they lit the candle, I knew exactly what to do, yet Daddy and cousin Kira and Emily all tried to help me. I knew that you are supposed to blow it out, but they didn't give me enough time. But I did try. It was pretty cute!
Then, after we blew out the candle, Daddy showed me how to eat my cake...right out of the pan!
I didn't think that was nearly as much fun as grabbing Daddy's glasses and getting cake all over them. Now that was funny!
Then, they put me in the high chair and let me have some cake. But this cake did not taste like my cupcake because it had cream cheese frosting. Where is the chocolate?!?!? What does a girl have to do to get chocolate frosting!?!? Maybe when I turn 2!
Overall, it was a great birthday! Hopefully I will have many more, maybe even without the ear infections next time! (Did I mention I want chocolate frosting next year?)
