One Week Until Game Day!

Chad brought home new BYU shirts and socks since Cole and Emily had outgrown their old ones. So Cole promptly went to his drawer and pulled out his BYU pants (although the pants have to go, they are way too small also!) and hat as well, and then he put them all on. He makes his Dad so proud!

Gwilliam Reunion

We went to Bear Lake for the Gwilliam Family Reunion with Chad's Dad's Family. We had a great time while we were there. We played in Bear Lake and on the shore. (Cole even got to drive the boat!) We toured a cave and the Paris Tabernacle. And, we spent time playing with his family. Cole loved playing with Chad's cousins and their kids. He and Emily especially loved the wives of two of Chad's cousins that are recently married. They would follow them around and play with them for hours! Thankfully Amy and Kathy were patient and tolerated them!

A Canyon Drive

The next weekend, we went to another family reunion at Bear Lake. To get there, we had to go through a canyon, which of course twisted and turned. As we started going up, Emily started whimpering and crying. We couldn't figure out what was wrong, and just assumed she was tired of being in the car. She continued to whimper and cry and I finally asked her if she was scared. She told me she was. So I promised her that her daddy would be careful as he was driving and try not to turn so fast. About every 5 minutes for the rest of the drive up the canyon, she kept saying "Daddy, be careful". It was pretty cute.

Idaho Fun

A few weekends ago, we went to Blackfoot, Idaho for a reunion for my Mom's family. It was lots of fun to be there, where both of my grandparents grew up, with my aunts and uncles and cousins. One really neat thing was to see my kids play with the kids of my cousins, who I used to play with when I was younger. Cole and Brooke were very brave in the reservoir, going in clear up to their necks. I was hoping the dad's were actually paying attention as they were talking.
This trip also gave us a chance to visit the Idaho Potato Museum, which was quite the experience. If you go, don't forget to check out the world's largest potato crisp. Emily and Cole were trying to figure out how to get the glass open so they could try a bite!

And More Fireworks

And of course because Utah likes to celebrate Pioneer Day on the 24th of July, we got to do more fireworks. Cole was still not afraid of them! He and Emily even did sparklers all by themselves. Maybe they are about ready to see Grandpa's big display!

Baseball Teams and Beauty Queens

On the 24th of July in Spanish Fork, we celebrate Fiesta Days. They have a very lengthy parade that is mostly made up of local little league baseball and softball teams, as well as the beauty queens from all of the local towns. The kids love it, even if it is long. That could be because most of the entries throw candy. Cole sat with his cousins and their friends and they taught him how to join the mad scramble for the candy. Thankfully, he had nice friends who gave him some of theirs when he was a bit too slow. Emily loved to see the princesses, but stayed out of the candy fight to defend her territory on her mom's lap from her cousin! She still ended up with quite a bit of candy anyway. I'm not sure how that happened!

You Should See the Other Guy!

This is what happens when you try to take on a 6-year-old! Just kidding. Cole was unknowingly playing too close to a wasp nest and the wasps decided they didn't like it. At least 6 or 7 bites later, his eye swelled closed, his ear puffed up, and his hand doubled in size. Of course, it doesn't seem to bother him or slow him down, but it sure does gross his mom out!
