Easter Egg Fun

Last week, we used the one night that Chad and I were both home at the same time to dye Easter Eggs. (Although when we were talking about doing it, the kids kept asking me why the Easter Eggs were going to die!) Cole really got into it and he and Chad had a great time making all sorts of designs with the secret crayon and with rubber bands. Emily also got into it, but she got bored really quickly and started inventing new things to do!

Emily got a little bored waiting for her eggs to change colors in the dye (or waiting for the boys to finish up with the 5 colors that they were using all at the same time!), so she decided she would rather try painting them. It didn't work so well, but she enjoyed making a big mess!

Addy got a little bored with her toys, so Chad took pity on her and let her sit on his lap. It took him about 5 seconds to realize that was a mistake!
Emily also got a little impatient with having to use a spoon to get the eggs in and out of the dye. So, she decided her fingers would work just fine! (I think her fingers are finally about the right color again.)
Emily was dying (no pun intended!) to eat one of the eggs, even though we kept telling her that she doesn't like eggs. This is how she tried to eat it. And being the picture happy person that I am, I actually let her try!
We did finally peel it for her and she took a bite and declared that she did not like eggs. Just like her oh-so-wise parents had tried to tell her.

I think the kids had a great time. Emily asks me every day if we can do Easter eggs again. But, I think next Easter will be quite soon enough!

More Kidisms

Ok, since the blogging gods have rejected my plea for nicer weather (I think it has snowed 4 times and rained 3 times since my "Snow, Snow go away" chant), here are some more kidisms to cheer myself up.
One day when we were talking about Cole's middle name, it's just the letter B (it's a family thing, so Cole and I just have to deal with it), Cole decided that he wanted his B to stand for BYU. Then, as the conversation continued, Cole realized that "Cougar" starts the same as Cole. This was a great revelation to him and he decided that he was changing his name to Cougar BYU Gwilliam. For the rest of the day, he refused to answer to Cole and would only answer to Cougar. (I'm pretty sure his Dad's encouragement only made this worse!)
Cole loves to play on the computer and has actually gotten pretty computer savvy. However, he thinks that all you have to do to get to a website you want is to add "dot com" after it, even though he has no idea what that means! (And the scary thing is, a lot of his websites do work that way!) He's always coming to me asking me if I can get him on Transformers dot com, Spongebob dot com, or Star Wars dot com. I finally had to explain to him one day that that's not really the way the internet works.

Emily always brings a smile to my face. (Except of course when she's getting in trouble, which has been happening a lot lately!) One day, we had just gotten home and I was trying to walk inside when she climbed on her bike and asked me if she could ride it. I told her that she couldn't ride her bike when there was snow on the ground because it was too cold. She looked at me and said, "But Mom, I just want to go wee, wee, wee all the way home." I about fell down laughing. I have no idea where it came from, except that we had probably been doing the little piggies rhyme with Addy at some point.
Emily is in a stage where she likes to copy everything other people do, much to Cole's dismay. This is particularly true when it comes to Addy. Emily thinks her baby doll needs to do everything that Addy does. So, she feeds her baby cereal, she puts her down for a nap, she wraps her in a blanket, she puts a burp rag on her shoulder and burps her, and she feeds her "Mommy's Milk". Hopefully she outgrows that one before she gets too much older!! She also thinks her baby needs a diaper change. As if I didn't have enough diapers to change around here without having to change a baby doll's diaper at the same time also!

Addy is extremely cute these days. She loves to play and interact. She also has a very cute laugh. One of the cutest things she does is that when she gets excited, she kicks her little legs nonstop. You can always tell when she's excited to see you or when she sees something she wants because her little legs just start flailing.
And I should say that Addy is extremely cute when her Mom is around. When I am not around however, Addy spends the majority of the time crying. I often return to a splotchy, red-faced little girl, who as soon as I take her from the poor soul starts grinning and kicking her legs excitedly like she won the battle. We have had to rotate the people that we ask to watch her so we don't start losing friends. Rumor has it her Mom used to do that when she was younger as well, but I'm pretty sure that's just a rumor!

Weebles Wobble...

When babies are learning to sit up, they always remind me of the little Weeble toys. They are always wobbling around, looking very unsteady. Here is Addy's best Weeble Wobble imitation. Of course, this Weeble does fall down at the end! (Are you singing the song in your head yet?)

More March Madness

After we took these pictures, Cole took his stuff off and went and put it in his special spot in his room so he could go play with his friend. After he left, Emily went barreling into his room and came out dressed like this.
It really cracked me up because she waited until he was gone and then was in there in a flash. I'm pretty sure she knew that if he caught her she was in big trouble because that was his special BYU stuff!!
I'm not sure what happened to the basketball, but she didn't care, she just got a different one. (there is certainly no shortage of balls around our house)
Apparently her dad needs to get her some of her own BYU gear, so she can quit stealing Cole's!

March Madness

Since we are in the middle of March Madness (and March is about over, so I won't be able to use that line anymore), here are a few future participants in the madness!
One day I was talking to Cole's preschool teacher and she was telling me about Cole's journal that he wrote that day where Cole drew a picture of himself and two of his favorite BYU basketball players, JT and Lee. So when I told Chad about it, he decided he was going to take Cole to a practice to meet them. (Sometimes, I think Cole will grow up not appreciating some of the perks that his Dad's job provides. To him, going to games and practices and meeting BYU athletes is fun, but not unusual. However, he finally made a friend at preschool that might make him understand just how cool his Dad's job can be. This friend comes from a family of big BYU fans, so when Chad told me he was thinking about taking Cole to a basketball practice, I suggested he take his friend with him also.)
So Chad did take the two boys to practice and they watched practice for a while and then they got to go down and take pictures on the court and talk to the players.
They even took their journals and had the players sign them. Another one of the players even drew himself in the picture as well, which instantly made him one of Cole's new favorite players!
The players were very good to the boys and Cole talks about them a lot more now then he did before. His friend's Mom also told me that it made his whole year!

Did I Mention...

NO MORE SNOW!!!
We are so tired of snow. We don't want any more, and yet it has snowed twice this week!
In fact, Chad is so tired of shoveling the driveway, that he left the dirty work for Emily. (This is a doubly cute picture, one showing her shoveling and two showing off her cute outfit!)
Last week, the weather was pretty nice. Nice enough to make us think that Spring was here and give us a taste of the good life. We managed to go outside and play quite a bit, even though there was still snow in the yard and sandbox!
Addy even got to finally try out her Christmas present! (I think it's still a little big for her!)
Winter, Winter go away. Come again another day. All the kids want to play! (And their moms want them to also!)
